Credit cards statue of limitations

Can someone tell me the statue of limitaton on credit cards for the state of Illinois? Also can a collection agency tell your employer about the debt? I have not been served with a summonds for suit or garnishment or anything, yet they are threatening to call my employer and tell them of my past due debt? Any help is always appreciated!!
