My question is in regards to credit cards (Visa, Mastercard).
Are major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard), considered to be "open ended accounts" or "written contracts"?
I resided in Arizona from 1993-1999. Currently, I reside in Alabama. It was while living in Arizona, where I opened up most of the major credit card accounts. Two credit card accounts were opened in California. I have been unable to pay any creditor since late in 1996. Recently, I was contacted by two collection agencies. They each have bought an old Visa credit card debt.
I have researched the Statute of Limitations in regards to both "open ended accounts" and "written contracts". Since the Statute of Limitations differ, the question of whether the credit card accounts are open ended or written contracts, is an important issue.
I have recently spoken to an attorney, who said credit cards are always "written contracts".
Any information or opinions on this matter, will be greatly appreciated!
