What is the name of your state?Ohio

I used to have some credit problems, the 7 yr. mark is here for most of the debt and approaching for the rest. I wanted to know the SOL for Credit card debt and medical bills in my state. I've read the FAQ's from what I understand the SOL starts from the "date of last activity" am I right? if so what is considered activity? I had a CC and it's being reported by the original creditor and by a collection agency, they show two different amounts but I know for a fact it's the same debt, can they do this legally?
I also have a debt from when I had to move out of an apartment. I called Legal Aid and they told me how to move out without getting an eviction. They advised that the Apt's might still try to collect on the money for the remainder of the lease but I wouldn't get an eviction. That's exactly what happened. It's listed on my credit report as a charged off installment loan, so my question is: Is the SOL the same for this type of debt?
Lastly, how long do CRA's have to correct or remove things when you submit a legitimate dispute?

Which SOL are you referring to ? The SOL for taking legal action to enforce collection of a credit card debt in OH is 4 years, and it starts with your first missed payment and never getting the account current again. "Activity" is usually either a payment or a charge to the account.

If you're speaking of the REPORTING SOL, that starts with the first deliquency which preceeded a charge-off and its 7 years PLUS 180 days from that date.

I had a CC and it's being reported by the original creditor and by a collection agency, they show two different amounts but I know for a fact it's the same debt, can they do this legally?
Yes. The original creditor usually reports a Zero balance once the account is sold to a collection agency, but having both entries IS legal.

Reporting period stays the same. However, a lease would be considered a written contract, so the SOL for being sued in OH is 15 years !

Lastly, how long do CRA's have to correct or remove things when you submit a legitimate dispute?
30 days, but they can get a 15-day extension, so max is 45 days.
