What is the name of your state? Vermont...Do I have any recourse for a mortgage company to of put another person's foreclosure of their house on MY credit report? It took over 8 months for them to remove the error, but in the meantime I could not get a car. It is off my credit report now, but I am still angry at what they put me through. Thanks

You absolutely have recourse. Personally, I would sue both the other person's mortgage co and the credit bureaus who refused to investigate.

I would send each one a letter detailing how you were harmed. Then ask for compensation (how much the difference in interest rates would be over the life of the mortgage loan you lost, for example). If they don't pay up, take them to court. The credit bureau is on the hook for violations of the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and I suspect the mtg co is too.
