What is the name of your state?Texas
Is there anyway to get a free copy of your credit report? Also, does anyone have any type of form letter (or site to print from) for debts that have had a SOL run out on them? If indeed you send a letter stating to remove this debt from your report because of SOL, must they remove it?

Answer: If said applicant was declined approval from a loan/credit application then said person has a right to request a report. The Business who requested the credit check will supply which CRA they used to pull the credit report from. Also certain states allow a free credit report ( mainly 1 per calendar year) They are: Colorado,Georgia,Maryland, Massachusetts,New Jersey and Vermont. Unfortunately Texas is not one of them.....

Go to www.creditinfocenter.com for letters or research on SOL . You may find the answer on how removals work.

Don't confuse the legal SOL for being sued for a debt with the reporting period of debts on your reports. One has NOTHING to do with the other.

SOL in TX is 4 years. If its been longer than that since you last paid the original creditor, then send the C&D and tell 'em to go get bent, the debt is time-barred.

The reporting period for negatives is 7 years PLUS 180s starting with the delinquency that preceeded the charge-off. You won't get the bureaus to delete a trade-line because the LEGAL SOL has run out - they don't care and its not applicable.

Thanks

I appreciate all of your advice! Thanks!
Ladynred--so, it may only be removed if it remains on credit report 7 years (+180)after chargeoff or last activity?

It should drop off by itself, but if it does not, dispute it as obsolete. Some people have had sucess in disputing it off earlier.
