To what degree can credit reports have an effect on hiring practices? Can you be denied employment on the basis of credit?

My response:
There is no law against the use of credit reports on prospective employees, especially if the job entails receiving cash as part of the job. The fear, of course, is that an employee in financial trouble is more prone to theft or embezzelment than someone with a clean credit history.
