What is the name of your state? OH

I purchased furniture on a credit card and then lost my job not long after. I have been back and forth with the credit card company and collection agencies trying to resolve this issue but they refuse to work with me. I have informed them both verbally and in writing that I am no longer working and cannot pay the amount they are requesting and that I would like them to pick up their property to settle the debt but they refuse and insist that they are going to take me to court. What action can I take to resolve this before court? Can they refuse to pick up the collateral on an account where there are no wages to garnish and no other property in my name to place a lein on?

Go here to read what your state has about the courts and judgements:
http://www.lawdog.com/states/oh/sta3.htm
click "courts" or "judgements".
If judgement is sought a summons will be *served* to you.
Secondly, returning of goods doesnt stop the process of debt owed. The creditor simply wants what is rightly due them.
Two suggestions:1: Pay them. or 2: Offer to schedule a date for Arbitration or Mediation. Present what you can pay and stick to a plan of repayment. These are merely suggestions so do with them what you may.

IS the furniture truly collateral ?? If this was not a transaction where the store holds a security interest in what you buy from them - usually a store card - then there is no 'collateral', there's only the money you owe.
