What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? CA

My vehicle was parked in a shopping center parking structure while visiting a bar. Vandal had been thrown out of the bar for causing a fight and was followed out to the parking lot by mall security. He proceeded to put his fist through my car's windshield and cause some other damage. All of this was witnessed. Police arrived on the scene and immediately arrested the perpetrator for felony vandalism.

I filed a claim with my auto insurance against comprehensive coverage, but will be paying some out-of-pocket expense until further notice. What other options do I have to recover this?

File small claims against the perp? I believe my insurance company will be chasing him for restitution in criminal court. Also, I understand the mall and or bar would carry a general liability policy? Is it worth filing a claim against them as well?

The mall is not responsible. Your insurance will pursue the vandal. You can ask to have restitution for your deductible added to his sentence in criminal court.
