What is the name of your state? Maryland

I went to court and was granted child support to be enforced by a state agency that collects and enforces child support payments. Now my ex wants me to ignore that order and work out something between us - possbily for more money that was granted by the court. I don't like being put in this position. And, I don't understand why someone would want to pay more money rather than going through the state program for less money. Any comments?

Easy...then he has control over whether or not he pays you, and when. In addition, if he doesn't pay no one will be tracking the arrearages and putting liens against him or seizing his tax refund. It is not in you or your child's best interest to agree to this.

It isn't really in his best interest either....because again, no one would be tracking the payments and he could have a hard time proving that he actually is paying his support.

Plus, if he's court ordered to go through CSE, anything he doesn't pay through them will be considered arreages. Which could be a pain in the a$$ to straighten out later on, if the order isn't changed to reflect direct payments.
