What is the name of your state? Maryland

After going to court to get child support established, my ex wants me to ignore the order and do something outside of the court. The ex is offering more money to go outside of the court order. The court order says we should go throught he CSE agency on this. Obviously, my ex doesn't want to go through the CSE. My question is whether I should ignore the court order and take the alternative. My concern is if I go through the CSE, my ex will be even nastier and more difficult to get along with - and the kids will feel the effects of it. What are your opinions on this?

Thank you.

The "ex" is an "ex" for a reason. I wouldn't trust his/her word, nor would I ignore the order. If the ex doesn't like the orders, then he/she needs to take it up with the courts. No matter if you go through CSE or not, your ex will still be nasty and difficult, period.

My husband went through a similar situation, where the ex wanted one thing, and did the total opposite anyway, which cost my husband $$$$ to straighten out.....

Be strong. Don't let your ex intimidate you!!!!

Since the court ordered you to go through CSE, that's what you should do. What your ex may not realize is that he is required to do so - if he doesn't, he could find himself both in contempt AND in arrears, no matter what he's been paying you on the side.

I agreed 3 years ago to go along with my ex paying me direct rather than through the state. I've finally had enough of the "I'll take him to soccer if you let me deduct $25", I'll see them on Wednesdays if you let me deduct so much money (he has Wednesday visitation and does not use it which is fine with me, but the boys question him on why he doesn't pick them up anymore.) EVERYTHING with him is money driven. I am in the process of changing it to have him pay through the state so there can be no negotiating. It will eliminate 1 stress (hopefully!)
