What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? California

My question pertains to a California State University, would I be able to sue the college if I was attending for two quarters and after the first quarter I was put on academic probation, and then they gave me a "contract" which they state is not a contract even though it says contract across the top, and one of the requirements is to maintain a term gpa of 2.0 on all coursework, I had a 1.38 the first quarter and the next quarter I had a 2.13.

I was academically dismissed even though I assumed I had met all requirements on the contract since in the catalog term is used in reference to quarter many times.

I appealed the dismissal, but was denied.

Evidently they took my first quarter and my second quarter and averaged them out and it came below a 2.0. They however did not explain that that is what they would do. Just looking for any assistance I can get.

Obviously I know I didn't do well, but I did do way better than the first quarter and planned to do even better the next quarter. I just don't understand why they make a contract and don't have to abide by it.

GPA's are averaged.... how else do you think you get them? Do you have a lawsuit? No.

I think you missed something.

It said 2.0 on all coursework.

How many of your classes in that 2.13 were below 2.0? If it was more than zero, you lose.

However, try your hand at community college.
GPA's are an average per term, you get a term GPA and a cumalative GPA, yes I understand GPAS are averaged.

But they have a contract that says term GPA must be 2.0 on all coursework, not cumalative GPA must be 2.0 on all coursework.

I have already got my Associate of Arts degree, so going backwards is not really an option.

Thanks for the uninformative reply.

There are so many students who would die for the opportunity you threw away.

All your course work is the key

Yea I know obviously. It was one.

Funny thing is this was actually brought as a case against CSU by one of my fiances friend and they won.

I don't know the full circumstances so I was seeing what I could find out.

Usually, a "D" in any class at any time after academic probation means you are out.

What part of this don't you understand? It said you had to get a "C" or better on all coursework. You didn't.

Now you are complaining. I don't understand why.
