What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Colorado

My son has a court hearing next week for violating curfew. Does he need a lawyer? It is his first time in trouble. he was outside the window of a girl who knew he was coming over. The mom calls police not knowing it was my son whom she knows. She feels horrible though, yes, she did the right thing and I do no blame her at all.

She says she will write a letter.... will that help?

Any advise is appreciated.

Look up your city's rules to see what the maximum penalty is. If it's a ticket like a parking ticket where he pays $25 and is done with it, I wouldn't worry too much about it. If it carries potentially more significant penalties (including community service or jail time), then you might want to speak with an attorney.

Considering that more and more jurisdictions nationwide are having these type of laws ruled unconstitutional, yes it does matter.
Not really.

Are you willing to be the one to spend tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars appealing a curfew violation to the Supreme Court? Unless you are, forget the constitutionality argument.

I gave you my advice in post #2. Did you google the penalty in your city?
