What is the name of your state? LA

Thiis is just something I'm curious about, because it's not really an "issue" with the people involved. I'd just like to know for my own education....and this site is great for that!

A friend of mine has a child who is supposed to go to dad's every other weekend. A few weeks ago dad told mom he wasn't going to be able to get the child that weekend, he had things going on. Mom then allowed daugheter to make plans with friends, since dad said he would not be getting her. Later in the week dad called and had changed his mind.

Mom and dad in this case are both flexible about swapping weekends, splitting them (that's what they did in this case) or whatever to allow child time with dad, but still be able to do things that are important to her. But, I was just curious, would mom have been in contempt for not sending the child after dad clearly said he wasn't going to get her?

Yes, mom would have technically been in contempt, but its not something that a judge would normally do much about. Worst case scenario for mom would have been a slap on the wrist, best case scenario would have been the judge being annoyed with dad for even taking it to court.

What a judge expects/wants is for the two parents to behave exactly the way these two parents are behaving.
