What is the name of your state? Ohio for me and Texas for her.

Ok, here is the story and I need advice! I am a single father, who resides in another state than my son. My son is 3 months old, and lives with his mother and her husband. They were married after he was born but her husband( at that time her boyfriend) signed my son's birth certificate. I am sure once paternity is established it wil prove I am the father. But she lives out of state and will not speak to me. I have only seen my son a few times and really have no proof that we have established any type of bonding/relationship. Her husband has been acting as his father in my place. She will not work things out with me so I have to do things legally. the only drawback is I have a couple of things in my history DUI and a non-violent felony, and a sexually related mis. Is this even worth my time? I dont want to go into this blind, but i know things are not really on my side. i need advice, please help meyour state?

Your criminal background is not going to help you, particularly the sexually related misdemeanor, but that doesn't mean that you won't be able to establish some rights where your child is concerned.

However, I would strongly recommend that you hire an attorney. (an attorney in MOM's state) Its very difficult to do any long distance case without one, and in your case, even more difficult.
