You gotta give us more than this.........

What do you need to know about mediation?
A) Its cheaper than court, if you can talk with the other parent and work it out.
B) Most courts require an attempt at mediation before a court hearing.
C) It doesn't work often - In my opinoin.

What about evaluations?
A) They can be court ordered.
B) If parents are showing their butts, they normally are.

Sorry.
What is the difference between mediation and conciliation?
I have done a mediation with no luck, now I have a conciliation scheduled, is there a difference, my research seems that they are almost the same.
Who performs each step, is it the same person for mediation and concilitation just with attorney's present?
Does anyone besides an evaluator report to the court?
Thank You.

Here is a law firm in OH -- Don' t know what he is like as a lawyer, don't know anything about him at all, BUT I like his explanations on the process.

What is divorce mediation?"
Divorce mediation is where you and your spouse, together with a mediator, discuss the issues raised by your separation or divorce, such as child custody, support and property division, to reach a resolution of these issues. The divorce mediator is a neutral third party who helps you and your spouse work towards a reasonable solution. For instance, during a divorce mediation, you, your spouse and the mediator might meet once a week for an hour or two over the course of a month to discuss and resolve the issues of child custody, child support, spousal support and property division.

THIS PART CAME OFF AN OH COUNTY COURT WEBSITE

http://www.cuyahoga.oh.us/Domestic/Familyconciliationservices.htm

Family Conciliation Services is a department of the Court staffed by mental health professionals (social work and psychology) available to provide professional assistance to families who are in conflict about planning for their children (disputes involving the allocation of parental rights and possession time, both during and after the trial of a case). When the parties believe there is a chance of reconciliation the Court has the option to refer a case for marital evaluation. All referrals to Family Conciliation Services must be by a Court order. The parties or their attorneys may file a motion requesting such referral or the Court may on its own motion make such an order. The parties are encouraged to resolve their disputes without the intervention of the Court. When such a resolution cannot be achieved an evaluation is performed for the purpose of providing the Court additional insight into the lives and needs of the children. This process involves clinical interviews with the parents and children and psychological testing. Attorneys are excluded from attending these interviews. A written report to the Court is prepared and is available to the attorneys or parties. This report does not determine the eventual outcome of the case. The Court makes this decision after considering all evidence offered at the hearing. The Family Conciliation Services representative may of course be called as a witness at the trial.
