My step children are 16 and 15. My step daughter came to live with us in September last year. Her mom dropped her off at our door and said she is your problem now. We had her in the hospital twice and had various medical appointments for her. In December we filed for change of custody to get her medical needs and schooling taken care of easier. Right after her mom received the papers, she came and picked her up. Said she had to move back home. She has always talked bad about my husband to the children Even telling them they had to call him Father and her new husband Dad. This has been going on since the kids were 3 and 4.
The children's mom told her she buy her all kinds of things and let her go out and do more things. Since she has moved vabck with her mom (4 weeks ago), she has started skipping school again, smoking, etc. Her mom even buys her cigarettes (she is 15).
Now my step son is here and wants to move in. We will be going throught the same procedure again.
Back in 2002, my husband was injured and we agreed to place an abatement on child support. When my step daughter was living here, my husband started working again. But we did not proded with teh starting child support again, because we filed for custody change and it would be taken care of then. now we received a paper saysin she is taking us to court for child support and not notifiying her of being back to work. We did tell her he was working, but she is lying. My question is :
1. We do owe back support from prior, but does it now becin again from the date he started work or when the daughter moved back with mom?
2. Mom maked alot more money (and always tells the kids this to), can support be based on both amounts?
3. What is the best way to go about custody change for step-son? Should we also pursue for step daughter, since she was much better while living here? (we also have letter from doctor and school stating that she should stay living with us. She is better off here) ?
