I had a contractor build my new home in Georgia. Due to many issues the closing on the house took 5 months. I moved in the house on the 31st to discover all the problems. I anticipated there to be problems but not like this. Hardly any of the electrical worked and it turned out that there were some fire issues due to incorrect wiring. Pretty much the whole attic was wired incorrectly and had to be redone. Part of the work that was redone was still done incorrectly and is now being fixed by a different electrician. I was off work in order to get the house settled but spent the vast majority of the time either waiting to get stuff done so that I could do what I needed to do or dealing with the new issues. I was without heat on a couple of very cold nights and have had to take off from work to let them in and do their stuff. There is no hot water and what water there is has no pressure. I had to fire the painter and ban him from the house because he was not doing what he was supposed to be doing. The yard was not actually finished, which was stated to have been done, and the sprinklers were not operational. Pretty much everything you can think of to go wrong in a house has gone wrong.
Obviously something in the process was botched because I feel quite sure that the house could not have closed with the major problems I am having now.
There is much more that would take too long to go into. My question is, are there any legal actions that I can persue? How do I go about finding out who is at fault? Should I contact local counsel?
PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!

I feel for you, but this mess is far too complex to address here. Go hire a real estate attorney who knows about new home law. Your state may have a mandatory new home warranty.

Good luck,
