Custom Essay Fraud, Please Help!

What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? IL

Hi everyone, I am a college student who is in need of your advice. Couple days ago, I ordered a custom essay to be written from a website that states that it offers genuine custom essays. This was my first time (and definately last) using this service.

I ordered a 4 page essay for 79.96 to be done within 24 hours at 19.99 per page around 9AM. I gave him specific instructions how to write it, such as topic and form(references, etc.). Since the site offers free revisions and order tracking (how the essay is being written), I emailed him AND sent a message via his website about 5 times after I paid him with Paypal.

No response.

After 12 hours, he sends me an essay via email attachment which seemed mediocre and did not include any of my instructions and specifications.

Since the site states it offers free revisions, I emailed him for a revision with exact instructions, again.

No response.

I waited till the next day deadline (9AM), but no response still. I waited another 2 hours and sent him another email telling him that I will have to file a complaint through Paypal.

No response.

I decided to complete the essay by modifying and adding things(minor adjustments) to the essay I received earlier and turned it in class.

I filed a complaint via Paypal but since the item is an intangible good, they immediately closed the case.

I was about to sleep just now and I thought, "hmm maybe he downloaded the essay from one of those sites that sells already written essays," such as www.exampleessays.com.

So I do some searching across the internet by the title and copy and pasting some of the body of the essay... and I find many..results.

The seller got the essay from one of those pre-written essay sites (probably a member who pays monthly to access their datebase) and charged me 80 bucks.

Since I turned the paper in, I MIGHT get kicked out of school for plagiarism. I am thinking about confessing to the professor before she finds out and ask for forgiveness.

Can I even take legal action? I know 80 dollars is not alot of money for most adults, but it is for a normal college student like me. In addition, if I DO get kicked out of school for plagiarism, would that entitle me to sue this guy for ruining my life?

I know it is my fault for even ordering a custom essay online, and I regret so very very very very much. But I believe that he holds some responsibility for sending a bogus essay which he acquired from another site.

Please help, I am in so much pain.
Thank you.

Since you were willing to pay someone to do a paper for you, why would you be upset if that person is just paying someone else for their crap?

Up and down the line it's all the same....CHEATING.

As a former university professor (business), I can tell you that nothing made me more apt to flunk a student than buying papers. My gosh, man...you have the entire world of information at your fingertips. You dont even have to go sit in a hot library and copy notes by hand. What the hell are you thinking? The purpose of giving you assignments is so that you actually LEARN something. You don't learn a darn thing by buying some pice of crap from someone else....except that you probably got junk for your money. Where do you think those papers come from? They are copied frm other work already out there. It's all garbage and you're trying to pass it off on your prof.

How would you like it if you hired a proofreader, editor, or marketing specialist out of some college ("A" student, of course), with the expectation that he/she was capable of doing high quality research/analyzing and publishing the results, and you were basing business decisions on that information....and you come to find that not only is that person incapable, the information sloppy garbage, your company has wasted resources, but the person cheated his/her way through college??!!

Do you think you'd be willing to forget it and give them a little pat on the head..."oh, ok. Well, do it right next time..." Baloney! You'd fire him/her on the spot. And, you should!

Your trouble isn't with your prof. That's just one class...although you could be kicked out of the entire school. Your trouble is with yourself. From this day on you better make up your mind that you'll never cheat yourself like this again. Yes, you cheated your fellow students, your college, your professor, and probably your parents if they are paying for your education. But you also cheated yourself by not doing the assignment as you were supposed to.

Eat the $80. Report the problem to your prof. Give her the website so she can identify the other cheaters she will have in her classes. Apologize, but don't expect grace.

I hope the real education you got here is about yourself and what to expect of yourself when given a task. Stand up, go forth, and from this day on----DO IT RIGHT! You'll look back someday on this and wonder what the heck you were thinking...and then you'll tell your students or children the same thing I am telling you.

You don't need to cheat to win. You just need to work a little harder.

You have much bigger problems than suing somone for "mediocre cheating".

Even if this person wrote the "custom" essay, it is still plagarism. So, what would you sue this guy for? Get that idea out of your head.

Anyone else remember microfiche, 3x5 index cards, and showing your working outlines?

I thought that being able to access the library's periodicals online from home was the height of technology when I was in grad school, and that was 10years ago. I couldn't even imagine having all the tech resources students have now.

Taking the company to court would do you no good because of the "clean hands" law. It would be like a drug addict taking a drug dealer to court for not supplying the ten bags of Meth the addict paid for. In other words, since you've proven that you're dishonest, you can't take the other guy to court for being dishonest.

Expect to be expelled. I think the only thing that you'll be sorry about is being caught.

Um, Hot, you did realize that this thread is five years old, and I'm sure the OP proved him/herself a failure long ago.

Some idiot was spamming and revived the thread and we all decided to chit chat about it.
