What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? NY

I have witnessed the car with the person who I recognize from an online forum that I am a part of. Basically he showed up near my house and what later turns out hacked my wifi and network. Later my name was used and i was harassed online. What type of attorney handles online cyber stalking if gov doesn't help? How do find a good one? What is the procedure when the police do nothing?

Here is a "Stalking Guide" published by New York's Office of the Attorney General:

https://ag.ny.gov/sites/default/files/pdfs/bureaus/criminal_prosecutions/stalking_guide.pdf

If you are being personally stalked and fear for your safety, call the police.

If you are considering taking action over the "cyberstalking," you should first read through the stalking guide to see if all elements necessary to support a legal action can be met. You can find attorneys who specialize in internet law through New York's State Bar Association or you can locate an attorney through AttorneyPages.com.

Because cyberstalking involves communication, it can be difficult to prove a "cyberstalker" is not just exercising free speech rights. One judge hearing a cyberstalking case in New York called the behavior of the cyberstalker-defendant "idiotic and infantile" but granted a dismissal of the case against him. The behavior of a cyberstalker must be more than just annoying. The behavior needs to be extreme.

Good luck.
