Last year my mom sold her house and used a professional mover to pack and store her personal property until she located a new place to live. THis all happened in Virginia. SHe paid storage fees and insurance for replacement value on her property.
Upon locating a new place to live and receiving her property, there was a lot of damage. The moving company took forever to settle her claim (eight months) and really low-balled her on the replacement value of some stuff. Prior to her cashing the check, what recourse does she have to get a better payoff for her damaged property? Is there a time limit that the moving company has to settle the claim?
