My 14yr old was beat-up in school on Friday. She got between her friend and a girl who was slapping her. She was yelling at the girl to stop slapping her friend and to leave them alone, which caused the girl to get in her face and yell at her. My daughter pushed at her to get her out of her face. The other girl punched her in the face, breaking my daughter's nose. My daughter got shoved onto the lunch table, hitting her head. The other girl held her down and continued to punch her in the face, causing bruising and swelling, 2 black eyes and a cut between her eyes.
My daughter and her friend had gone to school counselors earlier in the week about this girl bothering them. On Thursday, they had even spoken to a counselor,my daughter's friend stating she was scared the girl was going to bring a knife and stab her. The counselor, who told us this, stated he invited them to eat lunch w/ him anytime (he didn't think this problem would escalate, he told us on Friday).
There were four adults in this lunchroom. The head of security witnessed this incident from the front of the room (students told us this) but did not intervene. The other girl's friends dragged her off my daughter and no adult approached my daughter until after the fact. No written statement was taken from my daughter-only a verbal to the Asst. principle and a teacher right after this happened and my daughter was hysterical and bleeding everywhere.
We don't know what to do. We don't know if we can press charges. We don't know if the school should be held accountable.
My daughter is in a lot of pain. We went to the hospital and confirmed her broken nose and other injuries. I'm not happy about the school's lack of action and decision (my daughter got 2 day's suspension, the girl who beat her got 2 day's suspension). I don't think this is a safe environment for her and she's having some difficulties as well....
Any advice on what we can do?
Thank-you.

I would think the school would be held responsiable. If there were adult in the lunch room while this was going on, but just stood there and did nothing, then yes I think you should press charges agaisnt the school aswell as the girl who beat up your daughter.
