My 11yr old was over at a girlfriends house playing outside, my girlfriends 18yr old was riding his dirtbike while playing she chased after a basketball suddenly coming from behind a car parked in the yard he was unable to avoid hitting her his fist which was wrapped around handgrip caught her on the side of head right near the ear she spun around before being knocked to the ground. They say she never lost conciousness however she has no recollection of the incident and in her own words says when she woke up she was lying on the bed with everyone staring at her asking her if she was allright. We live in a very remote area with emergency medical facilities at least an hour away. we took her to local clinic where they suggested she be transported to Valley Childrens Hospital for more extensive observation. They determined due to the distance involved in getting her back should there be a problem they would prefer to keep her overnight for observation. We are not covered by medical insurance and make to much to recieve medical aid and although it was an accident feel that either his auto insurance or the homeowners insurance should cover the medical bills. I wondered if this sounds like I have a legitimate cause for complaint.

My response:
This is exactly what insurance is for - - the accident. Why do you think people buy insurance? Making a claim on the boys' insurance is not an affront to anyone because that's what it's there for when it's necessary. This is especially true, in your case, because your little girl is not insured (a topic we'll discuss with you another time, won't we). So, go ahead and make your claim. If the boy or his mother fail to agree or understand, just tell them this is not personal; rather, it's a necessity.
Good luck and I hope your little girl recovers completely and in short order.
