What is the name of your state? Oklahoma

Here is the basics, I am divorced and have a child through that marriage. We were offically divorced in July '05 but had been seperated for almost 5 years. My daughter will be 7 in August. He has not seen or supported her for most of those 7 yrs. He runs from state to state working various jobs because he has warrants here in Oklahoma. When we were divorced I got custody but he did get visitation rights. He has yet to use them or pay child support. Which I never asked for but was demanded as part of the divorce. I would have much rather have not even dealt with the child support if that meant I no longer had to deal with him again.

Now my simple question.... besides getting a lawyer what steps should I take to have his visitation rights removed? I am to be remarried in Feb. 07 and we would like to see what could be done as far as adoption also... Thank you for any information you can give me!

Ask your lawyer if you're going to be getting one.

Consult with an adoption attorney. Its possible that his parental rights could be voluntarily terminated on the basis of abandonment.

However, you need to give your marriage some time before you consider allowing your child to be adopted by your husband (and your state law may require that you be married for a certain length of time first, anyway).
