What is the name of your state? California
I am legally seperated from my husband, I was awarded child support and spousal support from the courts for our six children up until a year ago the amount was deducted from his paychecks. It stopped when he got fired from his job. I had to go on financial aide. The problem is the state cant or has not yet tried to find him I've tried but I have no idea where he is. My goal is to finish college and find a job, so I can get off of financial aide. My question : Does anyone know of any way I could try locating him for FREE? I've tried some internet sites but they all have a hidden fee I only want the support from him that my children deserve.

All the State can do is put His info in the FPLS which was started by the support collection Units .

He's probably not doing anything for the system to detect him or his whereabouts . Believe me if the State is giving you aid , they will want to be repaid .

I know of no way to find an individual for free .

At any rate arrears will build up ...

and interest is added in CA. Once he is "on the books" the state will find him. CA is usually pretty relentless when they want their money back.

Do you know where his family or friends live? Is it possible that he moved in with any of them? How long has he been gone?

there are lots of ways to start looking, as another poster suggested, start with family and friends, try the old employer, try the obvious, look him up in the phone book, also try information, some people aren't listed, but may be available through directory assistance, there are sites on the internet where you can get other people to help you, appeal to their sympathetic side, you would be amazed how much assistance people will give when children are involved. try peoplesite.com. There are several other good sites, others will be along to list them I am sure.

Stop waiting for the state to find him for you, they are overworked and under motivated.
