My husband left me 11 mths. ago. He left me in a very bad fianacial situation.
He makes more than twice my salary. I have been struggling since then to keep my head above water, He will occasionally give me money if I ask.
He moved in with his father and does not have to pay a lot to live there.
I also have no medical insurance because I can't efford. He is very irrsponsible,
and wants a divorce. We had been together 7 yrs.

Question? can I get any type of support with out going through an act of congress, such as a contested divorce? (they are very costly & to much
dirty laundry aired) If he sends me divorce papers and I do not sign how long
is that good for?

Very unlikely you'd get alimony, so you can pretty well forget that. Your debts and assets will be split as per your state's law. So you'd best start thinking about how you can earn enough to support yourself.

If you have kids, you can get child support but no spousal.

Although you may not want to hear it, you may need to get a second job.

More insult to injury! "Your right" thats really is not what I wanted to hear.
I already work 6 days a week 10 to 12hrs. per day. Salaried!

I tried to be as nice as possible about it but the bottom line is you aren't going to get anything from him. Move on.
