My story is this. I constantly go to Subaru dealership to have regular car maintenance done by them, and it worked pretty well for 10 years, until now. I had a major car service completed at 156,473 miles about a month ago. Few days ago when driving on a long trip, my transmission failed, and car had to be towed to nearby Subaru dealership. After thorough examination they confirmed that car failed because of transmission issues, they drained transmission fluid and only a quart of fluid came out. They asked me when last time my car was serviced which was less than a month ago and I drove slightly over 1000 miles in that period, clearly not enough to cause fluid disappearance. They examined for leaks and found none. My original Subaru dealership refuses any responsibility. How can I have them accept responsibility and pay costs for transmission replacement (almost $6000)? I believe at minimum it's negligence on their part for failing to accurately check transmission fluid levels, and in the worst case, they were trying to get more business for their service department at customer expense by deliberately leaving low levels of transmission fluid. Please advise. I have most of prior records of car service at Subaru dealership, I followed vigorously all Subaru recommendations.
