Dealer nightmare I've been having. Any advice would be great. Names have been removed.
The story as it happened.
On March 23rd we arrived at approximately 12 noon to pick up our 2007 New Infiniti G35...We were greeted by * who escorted us to financial services to complete paperwork.
After completion of the paperwork we were taken to the 2007 Platinum G35 which was leased in our names. We conducted a walk around with * when several problems were first noted:
1-Paint blemishes on the driver's door
2-Scratch on the front bumper
3-Scratch on the rear of the front, driver's side tire well (exterior)
* brought *; Service manager around to have him look at the problems and fill out a "We Owe You" statement. A verbal agreement was made that we would return the car in approximately
1 week to have the necessary repairs made. After contacting * by phone on Thursday, March 29th it was agreed that we would drop the car off at the Service station on Monday, April 2nd and we would
be given a loaner vehicle of the same model to drive during the approximately 3 days they felt the service would take.
At approximately 8am on Monday, April 2nd Sam Swope Infiniti Service took possession of the vehicle. On Friday, April 6 at approximately 1pm we received the phone call that the car was finished and ready for pick up.
We arrived to pick up the vehicle at approximately 5pm (both leaving work early in order to arrive before * left). Upon arrival we noticed immediately that there was significant damage to the front of our vehicle. We went into the Service Center and found *.
* followed us outside and surveyed the extensive damage that had been done to our front bumper, grill and headlight. (pictures)
* assured us that they would take care of the damage and that it must have been a hit and run in their parking lot (although we questioned this because of the nature of the damage).
We asked to speak to*; general manager at this time. * and * went out to the vehicle to survey the damage at which point they met us in * office to discuss a plan of action.
They assured us that new parts would be put on the car to replace all those damaged and agreed to cover our lease payment for the month that we had not gotten to drive our vehicle.
We were in agreement that if they used new parts and restored the car to New status that this would be sufficient. At this point we kept our previous loaner vehicle and were told to expect a phone call when the car was finished.
On Monday, April 16th we received a phone call at 3:45 that the vehicle had been completed. We both left work early in order to arrive by 6pm when * indicated he would be leaving for the night.
We arrived at Infiniti at approximately 5:15 pm and * greeted us and took us to our car to do a walk around. It was parked in the shadow of one of the buildings and parked between two non Infiniti vehicles.
We did conduct a walk around and the front looked to be fully repaired. We did have questions about the door but * "buffed" out a scuff that was noted and we couldn't see any other problems other than the car being rather dirty.
We drove the vehicle immediately to be hand washed as we are particular about keeping our vehicles clean and there was a large amount of leaves and pollen in the crevices of the vehicle.
During handwashing of the vehicle we began to notice several things:
1-The scratch on the rear of the front driver's side tire wall had never been repaired
2-The door which was repainted due to blemishes looked to be covered in scratches (almost like someone had take a rough rag to the door and covered it in tiny, circular scratches)
3-The black door panels on the front driver's side door (which had been repainted) and rear driver's side door (which hadn't been repainted) both had silver paint where it appears someone touched them while repainting the driver's side door.
This was at approximately 6:30 pm.
As a result of the circumstances outlined above we are seeking assistance in handling the situation. We felt that we were more than willing to accomodate minor and even major problems that occurred during this situation but it seems
that every time we have one repair done it results in several other repairs being necessary. At this point the vehicle which was leased as "NEW" has had two major body repairs and one paint job done and is now in need of several other repairs.
We feel that it is only appropriate that we be given a NEW vehicle in lieu of the "lemon" that we currently have.
