On April 15,2000, we purchased a new car in IN. We are from MI. We traded our van that we still owed on. We were told to bring down the car payment we would have made that month as a down payment. They would make it worth our while. After signing a contract with specified loan terms, amt. of payment, length of loan, etc., we were given the keys to the new car. Now almost a month later, our original vehicle we traded in has not been paid off and our bank is hounding us for the money. The dealership wants us to pay another $500 on our old vehicle so they can rewrite the contract to get a better rate. We cannot get tags or title on the new vehicle because they refuse to give us the paperwork until we pay the $500--and the original tags have almost expired. Now they are saying the original contract is not valid. We don't even know if we can still get our old vehicle back and there are new miles on the new vehicle. Due to a new job,
which they knew about, we are very strapped for any kind of cash. What do we do?

My response:

What do you do? You get to an attorney immediately for a review of all of the documents you signed, that's what you do.
