What is the name of your state? MS
Any ideas on this situation ..... MY daughter has full custody of her children and x has supervised visition which he has never bothered with. He lives 4 hours away in another state and her problem is that sense he moved from this state he has never had any type of address.he does have a licence but thats from another state he lived in 2 years ago.Any mail still comes here with his name on it. I know he is living with his mom thats where my daughter had divorce papers and custody papers served to him buy the sherrifs office. Now when DHS tried sending him paper work about child support being behind it comes back return to sender. I know he works but i am quite sure its for cash so what can be done to catch up with him ? he hasnt paid one dime of support sense the order went through in march.

Its incomprehensible to me that a parent would help their own child shirk a child support obligation...but it happens all the time...sigh.

Unfortunately...it may be difficult to ever catch up with him.

Well the two children are young 3 years and 11 months so i guess this will be a long battle for many years to come .... So while X drives around and owns a new 4 wheeler and drinks his pay away we will continue to help her out, she works 9 hour days to support her family while his family continues to just say well sorry nothing we can do about it on this end . Its just not right ! So all single parents left holding the bag i pray that some day these dead beats will be caught up with !

While this doesn't help out your situation now, he will continue to owe this amount and it will not decrease. He's also being charged interest that he'll owe the state. He might think he can hide and not have to pay, but his debt will continue to grow.

Plus, he not only owe the child -- he NOW also owes the state!
???? How do you figure he owes the child or the state?

Child support is for the custodial parent to reimburse him/her for costs associated with raising the child. Unless the custodial parent collected AFDC or something, he doesn't owe the state anything. He will owe the CP arrearages plus interest.....the interest goes to the CP, not the state.

She talked with child support people again and they say not much they can do til we have an address. Unbelievable ....Guess i will just have to go do some PI work on my own ...... Maybe even buy a black van with all the Surveillance goodies .....Just kidding of course .

I would tell your daughter to keep pressing the case worker in her domestic relations office (whoever is assigned to handle her child support case). Those offices have access to statewide databases. If he gets a garnishable job, it will show up in their computers. If he has a drivers license in another state, they can see that too. Request that they do a department of transportation search in the state where you think he's living. This is to (1) verify he has a drivers license in that state; and (2) last known address. Then after a certain amount of time of non-payment they can get his drivers license suspended. Also have the case worker do a postal verification on the mother's house. The courts can verify if he is still accepting mail there. Or, if you get lucky, you'll get a forwarding order. Eventually, it WILL catch up to him. At some point, he'll have to pay. Tell your daughter to keep calling, and to keep pressure on the case worker. They are all so overworked and understaffed. I'm sure they'd be happy to let an out-of-state case go to the bottom of the pile.

Oh, and VERONICAGIA, he may, in fact, owe the state for court costs, filing and administration fees. I'm not certain about MS, but in PA the obligor is responsible for those fees. And they are separate from CS.

They lived right down the road from me when he lived here and received there mail here at my house and when i asked the post office they say he never changed his address. All utilities came in my daughters name so he really only received mail from a loan and that is paid off. I use to forward his junk mail to his moms but now i just send it back to the post office. It still continues to come here So i know for sure he didnt ever change his address so my mailing address is his last known address. He does have a licence but its one from PA where they lived 2 years ago . When they moved here to MS he never bothered to get a MS licence . He has sense moved to the state he is in now and through the local police dept they checked and said he is not licenced in that state as of yet .They did run a check on his vehical and its registered to his mom. Guess he covered his a$$ all the way around not to be found by the courts. He is living in the area we use to live in and when we go there to visit we see him driving around with out a care in the world...... I thought of maybe following him and accidently backing into his empty vehical at the store or some where, then the police would have to come and they would see
#1 reg is expired on his vehical, #2 no licence for that state, #3 No insurance
Maybe then he would be forced to get a licence there along with a address .Once again just kidding before i get any one all fired up .

LMAO!! You're right, you shouldn't do that but it put a huge smile on my face nonetheless!

It sounds like this is one of those situations where patience will be your only way to resolve this. Eventually, he will have to get a license, want to marry, or get someone else preggers.

This is what i tell my daughter . Very frustrating to her though when she says she feels some what dependent on us for help . Which we just help with her rent and if he was paying his child support she could get by on her own.

Can you believe this has gone on for almost a year and still the state of MS claims they cant locate him . This is when we give them an address and everything ! Will they go after his income tax this year if he bothers to file ? He told her he wasnt gonna file last year because he owed money and wasnt gonna bother . Dumb a&& .....

Has anyone explained to DHS that tracking dad down was what THEY are there for? They are the child support enforcement agency, it their job to enforce child support orders. If you knew where he was or where he works, you wouldn't even need DHS, you could send an order of withholding to his employer yourself!

Honey, your daughter might as well reserve herself to not seeing that money and raising her children on her own. I gave CSE every address of my ex that I KNEW he was living at. At one time he was staying with a friend and I found the address and gave that to him. CSE CALLED him on the phone... then emailed me and said "Mr. XXX refused to give us any useful information"... Um... Hello! And you expected him to?

It took them setting up a court date every 2-3 months for nearly 3 years... always cancelling because he couldn't be served. They finally caught up with him because he ALLOWED them to because by that time the children had been adopted and he thought that 25K just magically disappeared!

At one point I too said to them. "I know he's working, I just don't know where." I got the answer that until they knew they couldn't help me. I rattled off his SS number and told them to punch it and find out where he was paying taxes from and was told that couldn't be done.

In 2001 they put in for a tax interception that I never received. There are rumors that it was intercepted (rumor by him) and rumors that he actually stil got the refund (rumor by a friend of his) but all I know is I didn't get anything.

The point I'm trying to make is those that really work at not being found, won't. If he's working under the table he's not going to file taxes so that's out of the question. Even if he's supposed to doesn't mean he will.

Yep .. BTDT... doesn't work that way. They tell the CP that nothing can be done until the CP finds out home addresses and work addresses. It's another example of passing the buck and creating victims.

That's amazing. In most states it is the responsibility of the Agency that collects the CS is responsible to make every effort to locate the NCP. That is why states have access to use federal resources that can be used to locate the NCP.
