My broyhers and I are benificiaries to my deceased fathers life insurance policy from work. Can the proceeds be claimed by someone else to pay off bills or are they untouchable. As i understand it they must be paid to us.

Insurance is not part of probate unless there are no beneficiaries listed. Since they are, you and your brother retain exclusive rights to the benefits.
