What is the name of your state? Minnesota

My oldest brother sadly died suddenly last year...he had no will...but he did have 5 sons and daughters. The problem is that the rest of us want to sell the Cabin but my brothers heirs haven't made a claim on the estate..leaving the property in some sort of legal mumbo jumbo. Before he died..my bro agreed to sell the property..I was supposed to meet him at the property in May together with a Realtor. I signed the sales agreement in good faith..however my bro's wife had died the night before and he was unable to meet with us. Then HE also died.
I believe the State of Minnesota has some sort of claim against any assets that my bro may have had which would most likely wipe out his share of any sale. Hence his kids don't want to go through Probate and are just ignoring it, not taking possession as heirs etc Naturally..in the meantime they are going to the Cabin..taking everything they can lay their hands on etc.
I NEED to get out of this..the taxes are very high..the cabins a mess..the State of Minnesota won't give ME the time of day and I have to figure out what the Legal Status is on the property and whether some State Agency can take possession and allow us to sell? What is the name of your state?

And what is stopping YOU from filing probate Intestate and asking the court to appoint you as executor so that you can sell the cabin?

That sounds like a good idea...didn't know I could. Part of the problem is that the rest of the joint owners including myself all live in different States...3 in California..and myself in Montana.
Do you have any idea where to begin with this process...what Agency I should contact, etc.?

You contact the probate court in the county where your brother died.
