What is the name of your state?AZ
Last July, 2003 I received a letter from a collection agency on an auto that my ex husband had reposessed in 1996, I sent that collection agency the letter that was gotten off of a web site that you directed me to (the letter that tells them I am disputing the loan). I sent it over night return receipt requested which they did, but I never heard from them. Today October 13, 2004 I received another letter from a new collection agency for the same account, I am sending them the same letter that I sent the other company. Last year was the first anyone contacted me in regards to this debt. My ex husband and I were divorced in November 1997. He declared bankruptcy last year and I assume that is why I am getting letters from collection agency's now. Am I protected by an SOL??? Is there anyway to stop getting these for good??? Am I liable??? I never signed the auto loan, but I know AZ is community property... Please advise :(

**The original CA sold it.

The SOL for AZ:
STATE: ARIZONA (%)
INTEREST RATE
Legal: 10%
Judgment: 10% or contractual
STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS (IN YEARS)
Open Acct.: 3
Written Contract: 6 in Az. - 4 outside Az
Source: http://community-2.webtv.net/YCHANGE/STORAGE/page16.html

The SOL ran out in 2002. Send a letter, certified mail return receipt, stating this is a time-barred debt. Tell them to stop all collection activity and never to contact you again.

This shouldn't even be on your credit reports.

Good luck!
