I got divorced from my wife on March, 2001. Before we got married, we signed a pre-nuptial agreement which stated that if we got divorced, each party would keep everything he or she owned before the marriage. My wife had a credit card before I got married to her, and she included me in that credit card, which now has a big balance due. My question is: is the debt from that credit card my responsibility even though I'm not the person named as main cardholder (remember, my EX-wife already HAD that card before I married her; she just gave me an extension of that card for my use). Please , I need an answer as soon as possible. Thank you.

the prenup covered property owned before the marriage. you do not own a credit card. it is on lease from whatever facility established the account. the minute that you married and you started using the card - you were creating marital debts.

you are both responsible for marital debts.
