Here's some background:

My 2003 1098T reported $4691 as qualified tuition expenses. Of that, I was only able to deduct $3000 (the maximum). Box 6 that includes tuition expenses Jan 2004-Mar2004 WAS checked.

I graduated in Spring 2004 and because my Spring tuition was included in the 2003 1098T I did not receive a 2004 1098T.

My question is: can I apply what I was unable to deduct in 2003 ($1691) on 2004 tax return.

Thanks!

You're deducting your college tuition from your taxes? It's very, very difficult to write off college tuition. I hope you fall into that narrow group that can take the deduction.

College tuition is a front page, above the line adjustment on the 1040. All you need is to have had tuition expenses that were not covered by grants or scholarships. You may even be able to count books for that one as well.
