Hello,

I gave $100 to a charity in 2005, but neglected to deduct it when I filed my 2005 tax returns. Am I allowed to deduct it against my 2006 taxes or is the opportunity gone?

Thanks for your help,
mw

You can file an amended tax return for 2005, using Form 1040X.
However, be sure that its worth the effort and/or expense that goes into an amended return. A 100.00 contribution would be worth about 25.00 if you are in the 25% marginal tax bracket and 15.00 if you are in the 15% marginal tax bracket.
