I live in a Florida community with deed restrictions which have been in effect 20 years. The developer has long since departed and the association is made up of homeowners. One of the restrictions requires the approval of an architectural committee AND the property owners on either side whenever a change in house configuration, paint color, etc., is contemplated. This has caused many disagreements when an adjoining neighbor refuses to approve a change, especially when similar changes have been approved to other homes in the neighborhood. Is there a procedure in Florida for amending or changing deed restrictions?
