I am in California

Can a deed to a house have more than one beneficiary on it so that when the owner dies the house is split into shares via the deed? If so, is there any way that I can obtain a copy of the deed? Or do I need an attorney to do this for me?

The first answer is Yes.

the second answer is go to the Recorder's office in the county where the home is located and give the clerk the address of the home. s/he will help you find the currently recorded deed to the property.

Simple.

Thanks for your help, krispenstpeter.

I am pretty sure the deed does, in fact, leave the house to more than one beneficiary. Thanks for letting me know how to find out.
