What is the name of your state?California
I am currently going through a divorce. We submitted the judgment papers for our divorce last week and then my husband went back and pulled the paperwork. Then two days later he began sending out vile e-mails in my name. He created a yahoo account and a hotmail account using my name. The first day he sent vile e-mails to the school district where I am employed and to the adults that I attend college with. The second day, he did the same thing just altering the e-mail a litte. And on the third day he sent the e-mails to all the teachers that I currently work with. Also, on the third day the detective representing the school district visited my ex. At which time he admitted to send the e-mails, to "get me in trouble" with the school. He said I was doing drugs, which is totally unture. These e-mails are bad, they include naked pictures of me and so forth. Can he get a way with this? Can I sue him for defamation of character or is that a waste of time. Can anyone tell me if I have any options besides feeling very hurt, embarrassed, disgusted, etc. I would really appreciate any help or advise anyone can lend my way. Thank you

My response:

You probably have a "Slander Per Se" case, and more than probably, an "Invasion of Privacy" case. Got lots of money?
