wisconsin; local business posted a list of deliquent accounts on counter for everyone to see since april '01. our name was listed even tho the bill had been paid. when contacted the office manager said she forgot to update. when called the owner said he would send letter of apoligze and post same in store. nothing done as of 9/13/01. can we sue for defamation of character?

You have two things to consider here....

1) What damages did you 'suffer' and how will you prove them???

2) Do you have a 'wheelbarrow' full of money to fund any potential case???

If negative answer to either of the above, talk with them again, get their apology in writing and move on with life!!
