What is the name of your state? Florida

I worked at a small company with a guy who is a very talented American computer programmer. He was well liked by other employees and was a very good worker. His IT boss was an incompetent H1-B from a foreign country. The President/CEO of the company was above the IT boss.

The American programmer was frustrated and hassled by the H1-B as he tried to finish his job. He quit in disgust. He later found out that the President has said two false statements about him attempt to steal software code and using code from a prior employer. Both statements are false. The Pres/CEO is a fairly sleazy character. Does the honest American programmer have an action? He is not seeking a payoff he just wants to clear his name.

who were the statements made to and in what context? How has your friend been damaged - lose a job, lose a contract, etc.?
