undefinedWhat is the name of your state?

THe situation is: A photographer is being defamed on a public site. However she died a few years ago. Her family have the copyright to her work, and plan on holding an exhibition in a few months so this may badly affect the outcome of people at the exhibition. I was wondering if it is possible for the family to sue for defamation eventhough the person being defamed is dead.

Please remember this site is for US laws only.
Please remember that if the claims are true and or opinion they are not slander and/or defamation.
Also such instances often draw attention no matter the truth of the claims.
