I was falsely accused of sexual harassment by a co-worker. Once everything was resolved the practice laywer told us that we were not to speak about the situation to anyone. A few weeks later I was approached by a manager asking who the person was accused of sexual harrasment? After getting over the shock of her asking me that, I denied knowing since I wasn't allowed to talk about it. A few days later the same manager called me to apologize stating that she didn't realize it was me. I aksed her who told her and she said my immediate manager called a meeting a told her and some other managers that I was the one accused. Being falsely accused affected me enough but knowing that my co-workers knew really made everyting go downhill plus she made work hostile, stressful and a nightmare. I appoached my boss asking her why she was telling people about it the situation when the laywer told us to not speak of the situation to anyone. She said it was her right as my boss to tell anyone she feels should know. Since confronting her she's been afraid that I would say something to her manager so she picked a fight with me a created a sceen. I was planning on resigning due to the toxic environment but since she created that drama I was asked to regin effective immediatly. Do I have a ligitimate case against her for defamation of charcter? Any advise is greatly appreciated.
