I WORKED FOR A COMPANY AS A SECURITY GUARD WHEN I GOT OUT OF THE NAVY. MY PARTNER AND I HAD TO MAKE A PRIVATE PERSONS ARREST AT THE DIRECTION OF THE LOCAL SHERIFF'S DEPT. AND WAIT FOR THE DEPUTIES TO ARRIVE. TWO DAYS LATER MY PARTNER AND I WERE TERMINATED. I WAS ACCUSSED OF BUYING MARIJUANA ON THE PROPERTY(WHICH NEVER HAPPENED) AND MY PARTNER WAS ACCUSED OF CONSTANTLY BEING LATE.(HE WAS NEVER LATE) WE WERE SECOND AND THIRD IN COMMAND. WE FILED APPEALS AND WERE NOT GRANTED A HEARING. WE HAVE SPOKE TO SEVERAL MANAGERS AT THE BUSINESS WHO STATED THERE WERE MANAGERS MEETING TO DETERMINE WHAT TO DO ABOUT THE ARREST INCIDENT. THEY WERE AFRAID OF A FALSE ARREST LAW SUIT AGAINST THE BUSINESS. THE MANAGERS DECIDED TO TERMINATE US AND LET US BE SUED AS INDIVDUALS. (NO LAW SUITS WERE FILED) SINCE THEN I HAVE BECAME A POLICE OFFICER. WHILE TRYING TO GET ANOTHER JOB AT A DIFFERENT DEPT. THE BUSINESS ALLEGED THAT I HAD BOUGHT MARIJUANA ON THE PROPERTY. I WAS NOT HIRED BECAUSE OF THE ACCUSATION OF BUYING ILLEGAL DRUGS. SINCE THEN I HAVE APPLIED FOR OTHER DEPTS. AND HAVE NOT BEEN HIRED FOR THE SAME REASON. I CONTACTED AN ATTORNEY WHO WROTE A LETTER ASKING FOR THEM TO SEAL MY FILE, AND NOT DISCLOSE ANY INFORMATION ABOUT ME. THEY STILL HAVE BEEN RELEASING FALSE INFORMATION ABOUT MY EMPLOYMENT. THE INFORMATION IS NOT TRUE AND IS KEEPING ME FROM GETTING A POLICE JOB AT ANOTHER POLICE DEPT. PREVIOS MANAGERS ARE WILLING TO TESTIFY THE TRUE REASONS FOR TERMINATION. THEY LEFT ON GOOD TERMS AND HOLD NOTHING AGAINST THE BUSINESS.

My opinion is that you may well have a claim for wrongful termination based upon a public policy violation. You may also have a claim for defamation. Possibly also a claim for blacklisting or blackballing.

The reasoning is that the public policy was for you to perform an arrest as ordered by the local police department. Your employer by hiring you as security guards, impliedly consented to such a situation. Then they fire you for this action.

The defamation is obvious, falsely telling potential employers about a drug purchase that never occurred.
