my female friend went out with 3 male friends, after dinner and 3 drinks over 2 hours, they went back to one of their homes to watch a movie. She had one drink there and began feeling sick, went to a bedroom and promptly passed out, she awoke and was being held down and raped by 2 of the men. She was unable to move and again passed out, she awoke a few hours later, immediately knew she had been drugged and left the home. Embarassed, she waited 3 months to file a complaint with the police department. They investigated and told her it was too difficult to prove so long after the fact. One of the men filed a slander lawsuit against her claiming his reputation was "injured" and he lost business as a car salesman. All 3 men gave declarations and all 3 vary widely as to time, location and events. My friend is terrified he will win and she will have to sell her home to pay the fine.

What must the plaintiff prove in order to win a slander suit?
What does she need to prove?
What are the chances of it actually going to trial?

thank you for any and all help.
