I'm a founding member in a bird club and I'm also the treasurer. I also work at a company that is non-union company but is under strike by the teamsters. the bird club has been having problems with the bank such as not getting signature cards right since they have been changed on several occasions; also people went to the bank and requested info and it was provided without I.D. and sent to their private address. Our bylaws do not state that as the treasurer I can't move the funds to a safe bank, after a disruption at a meeting and a Charter stated to me to get my charter money out and leave the club and because of unscrupulous acts prior to this it was suggested to me by a member that because of her actions it might be better to move the funds to a safer Bank I moved the account with the intent to protect; not to steal.I informed a couple of other charters that I moved the account and brought it up at a Board meeting nothing was said. A week later I received a call from the President of the club and said that I was being Impeached for embezzelment and stated that I had no morals because of crossing picket lines. I told the President my that I worked for a non-union company and that it had nothing to do with the club. And the union aquired this information the next morning and it is affecting my job and my reputation with not only co-workers but in the bird club as well. What can I do?

All banks should ask for ID. You should tell your local police force to watch that bank, maybe even stage a test. Explain what kind of new account that was made. It better be in the clubs name and probly signed by the president. Otherwise, just move the money back and see if that would satisfy the club. You will most likely need to include a resignation to make it acceptable. This is only advice and may not be accurate.
