Our bay window was cracked after being hit by ice. The Ins. company told us to get an estimate. We did. the contractor said whole window should be replaced because he did not think pane could be replaced without breaking seal. The Ins. adjustor did not like this so had the ins. co. brother ( who is a contractor come and evaluate the situation. we tried to tell him because of the broken window, the seal was broke and water leaked inside and damaged the sill. He ignored this. The adjustor told us that if the pane that they replace did not work they would be responsible. Well they came and tried to replace the pane. they tried to put the glass pane in that was the wrong size and doing this they broke the sash, and found that it was full of water. (which I tried to tell them ealier how the water leaked in). They left it and put screws in the sash that they could not get back on. Now the contractor calls and said the ins. will not pay for this because there was water. And we are now liable for the contractor to try and fit the window in that does not fit, I have a broken sash and damage to my sill. What steps do I take now to have this insurance company to pay for this window? HELP.What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? MI
