I paid $75 to go to the Inaugural Youth Ball this past Tuesday. We waited in line for 1.5 hours to get in, but once inside the hotel were not let into the room where the party was. (Which means we wouldn't get to see Obama and Michelle or any of the entertainment.) Apparently the fire marshal had stopped letting people into the room because the Presidential Inaugural Committee (PIC) had oversold the tickets and the place had become a fire hazard. There were at least a hundred of us not let in, maybe more. We were not offered refunds, just told to go home. The tickets were scanned, so there is not a way to prove that we weren't let it. The fiasco was reported in the Washington Post. This was a ball put on by the Presidential Inaugural Committee, which has no contact info on their website. I am furious they ruined my night and want to at least get the money back for our tickets. As an aside, the tickets were actually purchased by credit card by my friend in California. Any advice? What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

That 'aside' helps you. Have your friend contact his credit card issuer and dispute the charge. Provide the FULL facts in his letter.

Oh, you'll see them on TV for the next 4 years!!!
the Presidential Inaugural Committee (PIC) had oversold the tickets
Can you blame them? They had a bill for $153,000,000 to cover!!!
So how is the whole "change" thing working out for you so far?
HA HA HA HA... Well, one could argue that they would have been let into Bush's inaugural ball... So "change" did indeed happen!!!

I read about that. They're sending you commemorative keychains and such. If you dispute the charge, you probably won't get a keychain.
