pediatric Dentist performed root canal on daughter, within 5 months it went bad. She had infection, I took her to my own dentist who treated her and within another few months she had to have root canal completely redone by an endodontist, who told me it was not done properly in the first place. I owed first dentist $150 (I had already paid 550 of root canal bill), I wrote him a letter telling him what happened and the financial hardship all this was causing me and basically asked for some of my money back and he ignored by correspondence and put my account up for collection. I paid another $175 to the endodontist to fix what the first dentist screwed up. Can I sue him in small claims court for some of my money back on the original root canal?

Yes, you can certainly sue him in small claims court, but don't be surprised if the defendant files to move the matter to a higher court. And if he does that, an attorney will be required if you want to continue your case.

I would suggest that you contact a local attorney about your claim of malpractice. If the 2nd dentist is willing to state as to the poor work done, your case should be relatively easy to resolve. And for far more than the small claims limits.
