What is the name of your state? Colorad
My husband and I are station here at Ft Carson Colorado. He was deployed to Iraq in Dec. 2005. Before leaving he went to the rental office were we are staying and was told by the property manager that he could leave his 2 vehicles on the property and they would remain untouched until his return in Nov 2006 this was a verbal agreement and nothing in writing.
I was called away to Wisconsin during the month of Dec. to be with family for an emergency delivery for the birth of our twin granddaughters. Before leaving the area I left emergency contact info with the rental office as to where I could be reached.
My husband return on June 27 2006 for 2 weeks R&R, upon our returning to Colorado we found that one of his vehicles had been towed from the property at the request of the property manager in March of 2006.
After contacting the towing company it was told to my husband that his vehicle had been sold in an auction. That they had tried to contact us at the address we were renting with registered letter and it was returned to them so therefore they sold the car. Due to the fact that neither of us were in the area at the time we didn't receive notice of this or any other actiion that was taken.
The vehicle was a 1977 Chevelle Malibu Classic in need of some body work but operational.
This was my husbands source of transportaion.
As I said he had two vehicles on the property but only the Chevelle was towed, the other 1977 Chevy Blazer remained untouched.
Along with the car being taken and sold were also the contents inside the vehicle.
$1500.00 worth of mechanics tools and also $500.00 worth of miltary equipment.
I have researched the value of the vehicle at blue book price and it was valued at $1,125.00 Grand total lost was $2625.00
Imagine if you will the feeling that over came my husband when he returns to spend sometime with his family that is suppose to be for rest and relaxation after fighting for his country and at the same time his life to find that such an event occured. Then to have to return with a sound mind into combat with this issue on his mind.
Knowing he can do nothing about it until he returns home. The reason for this posting is I am trying to find out what leg we have to stand on in this matter and how it can be rectified.
We have rented from this property for over a year and have been model renters, always paying rent on time.
I am seeking any help that can be given on this matter.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and supporting the efforts of a Soldier and his family.
Thank you
Wealtha Robertson
