deposit not returned!

in Missouri. my grandmother signed a lease in 1990 for one year. it was not renewed and now she is moving and gave the landlord a 30day notice, he will not return her deposit. he says that she did not give him enough time. can he hold her deposit on a 1 year lease agreement that was 11 years ago?

As long as she gave him a 30 day notice to move starting from when her rent is normally paid....the landlord must return the deposit minus any damages.

NOW did she keep her old lease or a reciept for the deposit???

dji....Yes she still has her old lease. And she did give him 30 days from last rent.

Then she will have to sue him in small claims court, AND you can check your state to see if he has to put the security in a interest bearning account....if so.. thats 10 years worth of interest.
